A number of grad students in the Earth Sciences Dept. rallied to organize and participate in a camping trip only hours after hearing that our weekend EART 205 field trip to the Sierras had been canceled. We enjoyed the company of (night-time picture CW from left) Jason, Peter, Justin, Galen, Lissa, Katy, Erin, and Calla. Erin's two dogs, Kodos and Shyerpa made welcome additions to the group. We spent the afternoon hiking the highlands of Pico Colorado, in Los Padres Natnl Forest, 15 miles south of Monterey, CA. The traditional, bbq and bevrages concluded the evening. In the morning when we drove out of the canyon, I couldn't resist snapping some pictures of the "hobbit-like" houses these outcasts called 'home.'
