Trinity '07 River Trip

On Memorial Day Weekend (2007) Emmie and I ran the Trinity river in Mendecino county with the Hart Family and friends - making our group 21 persons in total. In this group there was only one boat with gear and I was responsible for guiding this well-laden oar craft. There were two paddle boats and half a dozen kayakers. This was my second river trip in CA, and I'm always surprised by the difference between CA rivers and those on the CO plateau, where I grew up (compare with the San Juan). The CA rivers tend to be much narrower, more rocky, and generally more technical. The canyons are steep, but are generally tree covered, whereas the CO canyons are awesome bedrock cliffs. Highlights of the trip: the Hart Brother's multi-decadale physical feats competition continues, I got (mostly) ejected in the class 3+ (one arm was still in the boat), the kayakers had an exciting trip. Thanks to Cyndra, Shawn and Kate for making this trip happen!
